Families try homeschool for many reasons: I have worked with families who have taken their children out of mainstream school for a year. Some have wanted to try homeschool for a term to see how they go, while others have committed to full time home education and just need support, inspiration and connection.
Creating a programme to suit a child’s and/or a family’s individual needs starts with close discussion. Centred around the child/children’s specific interests and needs I build eight to ten week programmes linking all subjects to a central theme.
I research the family’s local area and integrate available activities into weekly study – each location offers educational simulation that can surprise and inspire.
Using Google Docs or Canva I create weekly programmes using multi media resources, offering clear instructions and advice. Depending on the age of the children and the family structure the sessions are divided into four or five lessons with breaks.
A core principle is integrating problem solving and practical/creative application of explored concepts across all subjects.
I develop a bespoke list of resources to support learning.
I offer 24/7 support to homeschool families and we have Friday meetings to discuss progress. In response to discussion I may adjust to the following week’s programme.

Kate's impact on my life extends far beyond academics. As a returning student to a mainstream school, I had my fair share of doubts and insecurities. However, with Kate's guidance, I not only developed confidence in my academic abilities but also in various aspects of my life. I couldn't be more excited to share my incredible experience with my extraordinary teacher Kate. She has completely transformed my perspective on learning. What sets Kate apart is her unique ability to adapt her teaching style to cater to each student's individual needs. She recognizes that we all have different ways of processing information and ensures that everyone feels supported and included in the learning process. The cosy and warm environment she creates in her classroom is truly remarkable. It's a place where I felt safe to explore, ask questions, and take risks without fear of judgment.’Student Student age 16
Her teaching methodology went beyond the boundaries of individual subjects, seamlessly weaving together a tapestry of knowledge that connected various disciplines.
